After keenly contested semi-final games of the 2017 Zenith Nigerian Women's Basketball League on Thursday, both First Deepwater and First Bank will face each other in the final of the tournament scheduled to hold on Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Both teams have won the tournament at different times and playing in this year's final will not in any way be new to them.
In the first semi-final on Thursday at the same venue, First Bank defeated IGP Queens 90-63 points to qualify for the final of the Zenith Bank-sponsored women's tournament while First Deepwater defeated Dolphins 70-57 in the second game to secure a place in the final.
Speaking ahead of the final, First Deepwater coach and former national team star Shola Shomala told Completesportsnigeria.com: “I must say that I am impressed with the performance of my players and I expect more from them.
"It has been a tough journey making it to the final of this year's tournament but I thank God and our supporters for all the girls have achieved.
"We have to double our efforts in the final on Saturday because it is not going to be easy but we will do our best to win."
Playing in the final means both teams have qualified for FIBA Africa Club Championship for Women.
Meanwhile, the All Star game will hold on Friday at the same venue and players and coaches involved have been contacted.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
