Fit-Again Onyekuru Set To Feature For Anderlecht In Standard Liege Clash

By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru could make his first appearance for Anderlecht against Standard Liege at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on Thursday evening, four months after suffering a knee injury in December, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Onyekuru made Anderlecht’s substitutes bench on Sunday in their 2-1 win over Club Brugge in a Belgian Pro League playoffs 1 game after featuring in two reserve matches.

“The late goal Anderlecht conceded denied Onyekuru a chance to play against Club Brugge on Sunday,” a source close to the player told CSN.

“He (Onyekuru) expects to get some minutes against Standard Liege on Thursday to build his confidence to stand a chance to compete for a World Cup place in the Siper Eagles squad.”

Onyekuru was impressive at the initial stage of his loan move to Anderlecht, netting 10 times in 28 games.

It’s great that most of our top prospects are close to or in full fitness before the beginning of training camp. The battle for places in that attack will be fire. Moses, Ighalo, Musa, Iheanacho, Iwobi, Simon, Kayode, Onyekuru, and possibly Nassarra Success from what I’m hearing. Getting the best 6 out of these talented lot will be a massive headache and a good one to have for any serious coach.

Two people who have never met, and may never meet each other, are fighting over the internet. Peace my guys. We all want to see the Super Eagles do well. We can’t achieve this by fighting. Peace!
