Flying Eagles Begin W/Cup Campaign Vs Brazil

Following their record-smashing seventh win of the African Youth Championship title Sunday in Dakar,Senegal,the Flying Eagles have drawn South American giants,Brazil in group E of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The boys of coach Manu Garba will actually open their campaign at the championship against Brazil on June 1 at the Taranaki Stadium in New Plymouth, New Zealand.


The Nigerians will play their second game on June 4 at the same satdium against North Korea before completing the group E games against Hungary also at the same stadium while Brazil will travel to Christchurch Stadium in Christchurch to play North Korea in their final group game that will be played simultaneously The Nigerians could meet Senegal again in the round of 16 on

June 11 at the Taranaki Stadium in New Plymouth if they come tops in group E and Senegal who have been drawn in group D come second or play Germany at the Christchurch Stadium in Christchurch if they come second in group E and Germany tops in group F.

The Flying Eagles under coach Samson Siasia were finalists in 2005 in Holland losing 2-1 to Argentina at the Galgenwaard Stadion in Utrecht via two penalty goals from Lionel Messi while Chinedu Obasi scored Nigeria’s lone goal.
