–Omotosho, George crash out
Folashade Abugu yesterday qualified for the final of the 400m women’s event at the on-going 20th edition of the commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Abugu who ran on lane four in the second semi final, got to the finishing line with a time of 51.71 sec and will be the only nigerian in the 400m women’s final which will be decided this evening at the Hempden Park Stadium,
Glasgow. Aside Abugu’s brilliant race, other Nigerian hopefuls in the 400m race including Omolara Omotosho and Regina George
all failed to make the finals grade. As it stands now, Nigeria’s hope of a medal of whatever colour in the 400m women’s event rests sole and entirely on the feet of Abugu.
Earlier in the men’s 100m event, Ogho-Oghene Egwero who ran on lane seven failed to make it to the final.
Similarly, Mark Jelks also could not make it to the final in the 100m men’s race.
