–Klinsmann Appoints Compatriot as Adviser
Former Super Eagles Coach Berti Vogts has been appointed as a special advisor to assist fellow countryman Jurgen Klinsmann who will be leading the United States senior team to the FIFA World Cup.
Vogts who took over from Austin Eguavoen, led the Eagles to the quarter-final stage at the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana where they lost 2-1 to the hosts, and was eventually sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation who replaced him with Amodu Shuaibu.
The 1996 European Championship winning coach with Germany, is expected to undertake duties such as helping with the development of training plans and scouting the USA’s opponents for the tournament in Brazil.
Speaking on the appointment, Klinsmann stated the reason for picking the experienced German tactician.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Berti join us as an advisor. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, both as a player and a coach, and he knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
“He was my coach for Germany in the 1990s and we have a great relationship. Through his time as the head coach of Scotland, Nigeria and Azerbaijan, he is obviously very familiar with our opponents in the group stage of the World Cup, and for us this is a huge bonus.”
Aside the appointment of Vogts, US Under-20 coach Tab Ramos has also been included in the coaching staff by Klinsmann, with assistant coach Martin Vasquez to move into another unspecified role.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
