Team Nigeria’s hopes of harvesting gold medals in the wrestling event at the on-going 11th All Africa Games got a lift Friday afternoon as no fewer than four Nigerian matsmen have qualified for the final stage of their different weight categories, completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The four Nigerian wrestlers who are competing in the freestyle men’s event are Daniel Amas 61kg, Bibo Melvin 74kg, Tamarau Soso 97kg and Boltic Sivivie in the 125kg weight category.
The wrestling event is taking place at the Massamba Debat gymnasium, Makelekele.
“We’re happy the wrestlers are through to the final. Hopefully, they will win medals,” an elated Segun Oguntade, secretary of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, told completesportsnigeria.com at the venue of the event.
