Former Nigeria international Friday Ekpo has urged MFM FC's Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun as well as Akwa United's Alhassan Ibrahim not to get carried away following their invitation to the Super Eagles camp, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

On Monday Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr released a 25-man squad for a planned camping programme in France and the friendly match against a Corsica team later in May.

Odey, Olatubosun, Ibrahim and Ikechukwu Ezenwa of IfeanyiUbah are the four home-based players listed by Rohr for the camping.

Odey is currently the Nigeria Professional Football League's top scorer with 14 goals, while  Ibrahim has 10 goals.

Other players invited are regulars like Leon Balogun, Kelechi Iheanacho, Elderson Echiejile, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa, William Troost-Ekong and Moses Simon.

Chelsea's Ola Aina, Wolfsburg's Victor Osimhen and Vitoria Setubal's Mikel Agu were also included in the list.

Reacting to the invitation of Odey, Olatunbosun and Ibrahim, Ekpo advised the players to seize the opportunity in order to stand a chance of getting invited in future.

"They should not allow their invitation into the Super Eagles get into their heads and make them lose concentration, rather the invitation should spur them to do more so that they don't get dropped after first call up," former Nigeria midfielder Ekpo told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"They should remain obedient even to their club coaches and also to their teammates in their various clubs so that they will be able to gain more."

Ekpo, who was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won bronze at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, hailed the Eagles coaching crew for inviting the home-based players.

He said: "It is a welcome development but I think the coach should have invited more than four because talking about continuity in the national team, we have to start building and have replacements from now.

"So like I said it is a welcome development for Nigerian league players."
