Fulham Midfielder Makes Guinea Switch

Fulham midfielder Ibrahima Cisse has been handed Fifa clearance to switch his international allegiance to Guinea. The 24-year-old was born in Liege, Belgium and has represented the Red Devils at a number of youth levels since 2010.

Cisse’s last international appearance came for Belgium’s Under-21 side in 2015 but he was recently sounded out by Guinea as they looked to get him on board.

After applying to Fifa for permission to switch his international allegiance, the midfielder has now been granted clearance to turn out for the African nation.

Guinea, who have also been given the green light to call up former Ivory Coast Under-20 international Ibrahima Kone, could hand Cisse his debut in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home to the Central African Republic.

“On the administrative side, the files of players Ibrahima Kone and Ibrahima Cisse have been settled by Fifa and Caf. They can play now in the Syli Nationale,” said the Federation of Guinean Football in a statement.
