Gian Piero Gasperini has signed a new contract that will see him remain as Atalanta manager until at least the summer of 2021. The 60-year-old took charge at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia during the summer of 2016 and has guided La Dea to back-to-back top-seven finishes in Serie A, while they are also unbeaten in the Italian top flight so far this term.
Gasperini will take charge of his 100th competitive game as Atalanta boss when they host Cagliari in the league on Sunday, and he has celebrated that milestone by penning a new three-year deal that has an option for a further year.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has confirmed the club are delighted to have tied Gasperini down to a new contract and they hope he can continue to “get the best” out of his players.
“Gasperini is a key figure for us and that is why we extended his contract by another year,” Percassi told L’Eco di Bergamo newspaper.
“He gets the best out of all his players, above all youth, gets the team playing beautiful football and is adored by everyone around the club.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
