Richard Gasquet says he must raise his game against Kevin Anderson in the Japan Open quarter finals after his win over Nick Kyrgios. Only two places separate wold No.27 Kyrgios and Gasquet in the ATP Tour rankings ahead of Thursday’s encounter and there was little to separate the pair on court.
Both players were in control of their serve and there wasn’t a single break in 78 minutes of play, with Kyrgios firing 22 aces and Gasquet getting 12 of his own, including the all-important match point.
Gasquet overcame his Australian foe via two tie-break situations to advance through and will now face 2018 Wimbledon finalist Anderson.
He will play Anderson on Friday after the South African defeated Frances Tiafoe 6-3 3-6 6-2 and says he will need to up his game for that contest.
“Kevin is a top 10 player and has been in the Wimbledon and US Open finals so I have nothing to lose,” Gasquet said.
“I know what I have to do to beat him but I also know it will be very tough.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
