–Nigeria second-tier league ends today
By Sab Osuji;
The Nigerian second tier domestic football league heads for a dramatic finish across the country today with Gateway United, Prime of Osogbo and Ekiti United in a fierce race against the dreaded drop to the Nigeria Nationwide League, completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Akwa Starlets of Uyo, First Bank of Lagos and Gabros International of Nnewi are strong contenders for the two promotion slots in Division B.
Should 3SC continue their home invincibility this term with a win over visiting Akwa Starlets, they would seal their passage to the top flight.
First Bank can join them if they avoid defeat at relegation threatened Go-Round of Omoku, Rivers State and Gabros International fail to win at equally relegation threatened Ekiti United.
Completesportsnigeria.com reports that Gateway United with 40 points, will join the relegation train if they fail to win against Unicem who also need the maximum points to stay clear of the drop zone.
Prime with 38 points, must get the maximum points against COD who are already relegated in order to end the campaign on 41 points.
Prime may still be at risk of dropping out if Remo Stars secure an unlikely point at Abia Comets, a result that may also expose the Umuahia side to relegation.
