Ghana Fred Up For South Africa Test

Ghana Fred Up For South Africa Test

Ghana’s Black Satellites are gearing up for their AYC opener after arriving in Senegal on Thursday night.

Team Ghana had been holding their final pre-tournament camping in Turkey in the last fortnight.
The tree-time African U-20 Champions held their first training session in M’Bour on Friday afternoon ahead of their opening Group B encounter with South Africa on Monday. All 21 players on Ghana’s roster took part of the session.

Head coach Sellas Tetteh who led the 2009 batch to win Ghana’s third U-20 title is well aware of the big task ahead but is confident his charges are ready for the challenge.

“It is not easy being a former champion and everyone will come playing tougher against us because we are the Ghana team,” Tetteh told Graphic Sports.

“All these require us to be cautious and not being carried away or complacent.”
“We will be ready for our first game on Monday and we will wait to see how it turns out,” he continued.

Tetteh adds that Ghana are focused on working to their strength and realising their goals rather being disrupted by the favourites tag being accorded the team.

“I believe people see as favourites because we are Ghana, but the truth is, it is our performance that is more important to me. We are going with our own dreams and expectations and realising them will engage our focus, rather than whether we are favourites or not,” he said.
