Gloucestershire Tie Down Bowler

David Payne is hoping to help Gloucestershire win some silverware next season after putting pen to paper on a new deal. The 27-year-old made his Gloucestershire debut in 2009 and has since gone on to establish himself as a key figure in the bowling attacking.

Payne boasts over 200 appearances, having contributed across all formats, he claimed his 400th wicket last week in the Championship victory over Glamorgan.

The left-armer feels Gloucestershire have a bright future and is targeting silverware over the next few years after committing until 2021.

Payne told Gloucestershire’s official website: “I am delighted to commit the next years of my career to Gloucestershire. I have huge ambitions to win trophies for this club, and to play for my country. And despite recent trends, I believe that I can achieve my goals in the game as a player here at Nevil Road.

“We have an exciting blend of youth and experience within the squad now and I feel that we can not only compete for trophies in white ball cricket, but fight for promotion in the championship. I am comfortable in my role as a senior bowler at the club and relish the opportunity to both push my own game forward and to help in the nurturing of a young bowling group.

“I thank the members for their continued support and the players and coaches for the backing they give.”
