By Adeboye Amosu: Go Round FC captain Nelson Esor believes the club can claim a continental ticket after winning the Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super Four competition, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).
The Omoku club, who will make their debut appearance in the Nigeria Professional Football after coming second in the Southern Conference of the NNL last season, won the Super Four title following a 2-1 win against Heartland in Lagos on Tuesday.
“We are happy with our performance in the Super Four. Winning the competition is a big achievement for us and we hope to carry this performance into the new season,” the midfielder told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“The performance of MFM (who finished second in the NPFL) last season is a big inspiration for us and we hope to emulate them by securing a continental ticket at the end of the season.
“The confidence in this team is high and we are not afraid of any team in the league. I know there are a lot of big teams in the league but we are not scared of them.”
Esor also attributed the team’s success to self-belief and the winning mentality of the players.
“This is a team that has been together for a long time and we believe we can achieve a lot together,” he told CSN.
“You can see in the way we play that there is perfect understanding among us and we are always ready to fight for each other.
“We also have a coach who believes in us and not big names.”
Go Round will face Wikki Tourists in their opening NPFL fixture at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi on Sunday.
