60 Goals Soccer Stars Project Moves To Akwa Ibom

The talent screening and scouting exercise organised by 60 Goals Soccer Stars Project which commenced in June has moved to Akwa Ibom.

This follows the successes recorded by the project in Lagos, Delta and Anambra States where a number of promising young talents have already been discovered.

The three-day event in Akwa Ibom which started on Monday is being held at the Holy Child Primary School, Ifiayong Usuk, in Uruan LGA, with former Ukraine U-23 national team coach, Oleg Dziuba on ground to oversee the screening.

Coach Dziuba arrived Akwa Ibom Sunday evening accompanied by the national coordinator of the 60 Goals Soccer Stars Project, Jane Ndubuisi, who doubles as FIFA Intermediary Agent, as well as Francis Ikechukwu – a former Nigerian U-23 international.

“The 60 Goals Soccer Stars Project is on course as we have moved to Akwa Ibom having completed the screenings in Lagos, Delta and Anambra,” Ndubuisi said.

“We have with us on ground former Ukraine U-23 national team coach, Oleg Dziuba who flew into the country at the weekend.

“We are doing it phase by phase until we go round the 15 states in the country as planned. It’s tough but it’s been fun and worthwhile considering how we have been well received and the enthusiasm shown by the aspiring youngsters.

“We thank our sponsor, Hon. Ned Nwoko and our partners in Akwa Ibom; Hon. Nse Essien and Ibom Hotel (co-host) who are helping us on the project.”

The project which is aimed at discovering and promoting young talents from the grassroots will be done in 15 states across Nigeria. The first phase which commenced in June will involve five states after which the selected players will be camped. Foreign clubs and agents will then pick their choice players to go on trials with various clubs abroad.
