Golden Eaglets forward, Funsho Bamgboye, says the side's 2-1 win against Argentina in a tune-up game on Wednesday has lifted their spirits ahead of the defence of their title in Chile, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Aspire Academy youngster scored the second goal in the win against the South Americans, who will also compete for the title in neighbouring Chile.
Victor Osimhen scored Nigeria's other goal.
Bamgboye said they were disappointed with their performance at a recent invitational tourney in Korea where they placed third behind Brazil and Croatia, but are now confident they can fight for the title at the World Cup after their latest feat.
"We are delighted with the win against one of the best teams who will also play at the World Cup," Bamgboye told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We didn't really do well in the competition in Korea and we challenge ourselves to improve before the World Cup.
"This win has surely improved our confidence level and we believe we can do well at the World Cup."
The Eaglets will play in Group A at the World Cup alongside hosts Chile, United States of America and Croatia.
Their first game is against USA in Santiago October 17.
