The 11th edition of GOtv Boxing Night will hold on 26 March, 2017 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State, Completesportsnigeria.com reports..
This was announced at a media briefing on Monday at the National Stadium, Lagos.
Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, organizers of GOtv Boxing Night, Bamidele Johnson, said the idea to take the 11th edition outside Lagos for the first time is to carry other states along.
“We decided to take the event outside Lagos because of the call by boxing fans that they want to have a feel of what GOtv Boxing Night is all about," Johnson said.
"Other parts of the country will soon also enjoy Gotv Boxing.”
Meanwhile, seven bouts will be on the cards at the 11th edition on the GOtv Boxing Night.
The standout bout is a West African lightweight challenge between Nigeria's Otto “Joe Boy" Joseph and a Ghanaian opponent Anma Dotse.
In the national bamtamweight six-round contest, Sadiq Adeleke will take on Taiwo Kareem; Waliu Arogundade will fight Rilwan Babatunde in an eight-round national light welterweight challenge, while Sule Olagbade and Wahab Adebisi will slug it out in a national lightweight eight-round challenge.
Also, Adewale Masebinu will square off against Kabiru Towolawi in an eight-round national light heavyweight challenge; Olaide Fijabi will challenge Sadiq Abdullahi in a 12-round national light welterweight rematch and Akeem Dodo will do battle with Saka Kazeem in an eight-round national light middleweight challenge clash.
