France forward Antoine Griezmann has announced that he will be staying with Atletico Madrid come next season.
Griezmann had been the subject of a €100million offer from Barcelona.
But in a programme called ‘The Decision’, aired on Spanish TV, Griezmann declared that he will remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.
“I have decided to stay,” said the 27-year-old.
“Atletico are doing everything they can to keep the team growing; it’s amazing, they’re making a lot of efforts, I cannot stand it, I need to tell people that I want to stay.”
Already Atletico have secured a deal to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, an international teammate of Griezmann.
The former Real Sociedad star has scored 112 goals for Atletico and will lead France’s World Cup charge in Russia this summer.
France their tournament underway against Australia in Group C on Saturday.
