Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is looking forward to the German champions’ game against Ukrainian side Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday with optimism, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Champions League game comes after two hugely successful league games against Wolfsburg and Mainz which they won 5-1 and 3-0 respectively.
Guardiola spoke to Completesportsnigeria.com just moments after Bayern Munich defeated FSV Mainz inside the Coface Arena on Saturday. The former Barcelona boss was optimistic that the away win over Mainz will inspire his tip exam the more ahead of the European game.
“Today’s win (3-0 win over Mainz) against a very difficult opponent have boosted our confidence ahead of our Champions League game against Dinamo," Guardiola exclusively told Completesportsnigeria.com at the Coface Arena, Mainz.
“It’s important to keep the winning run. We have had to manage games as well as personnel. We decided to rest some players today so as to give others play time because it’s a long season.
Guardiola further commended the contributions of the players who were on duty against Mainz despite the quality of substitutes on the bench who could be called up in the course of the game.
“And as you can see, the quality in the team despite having good players on the bench (Jerome Boateng, Arturo Vidal and Mario Gotze all came from the bench in the second half).
“We needed to refresh up things a bit and we’re delighted to have no injury setback ahead of another difficult clash in the Champions League. We go back to Munich after this win, rest tomorrow (Sunday) and report back to training in preparation for Dynamo. This is the nature of our job (smiles),” Guardiola told Completesportsnigeria.com.
