Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says his side will turn their focus on winning the English Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League after clinching the 2017/18 Carabao Cup on Sunday.
Manchester City defeated Arsenal 3-0 to lift their fifth Carabao Cup with goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva handing Guardiola his first trophy in England.
“It’s important. We’re so happy, and a big congratulations to all of Manchester City, and our fans. This trophy is for Manchester City and not for me,” Guardiola said during his post-match interview
“Now we concentrate on the Premier League, where we will try to win the rest of our games, and the Champions League, too.”
Manchester City will face Arsenal in a rescheduled league game on Thursday at the Emirates.
Guardiola also admitted that his side were far from their best in the first half despite going into the break a goal up.
“The first half we were not good, there were a lot of mistakes, in the second half we played with a lot more courage and personality – we were outstanding,” he added.
“Football is football, you can’t control everything, it’s football.”
