Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola has, expectedly, been nominated for the Barclays Manager of the season award, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Guardiola who guided Manchester City to the title this season equaling Chelsea’s record for the most number of wins in the English Premier League is up against five other coaches for the award.
Also up for the award are Livepool’s Jurgen Klopp, Crystal Palace’s Roy Hodgson, Burnley’s Sean Dyche, Newcastle United boss, Rafael Benitez and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Chris Hughton.
Guardiola’s side have recorded 30 wins so far this season losing just two games. The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager will be hoping to set new records for the most goals scored in the EPL and the most league wins in a season.
Klopp made the shortlist for Liverpool’s outstanding attacking display this season. The Reds are the second highest scoring team in the EPL and are also one of the two teams that defeated Champions elect, Manchester City this outgoing season.
The German coach also qualified Liverpool for the final of the UEFA Champions League.
Dyche got listed for Burnley’s impressive performance this season which has seen them compete for an UEFA Europa League spot. They are seventh in the table.
Hodgson who also made the shortlist has lead Crystal Palace out of the relegation zone.The Eagles are now 12th in the table with 38 points from 36 games.
Rafael Benitez and Chris Hughton also got nominated for helping their teams, Newcastle United and Brighton Hove Albion respectively, stay up in the EPL following their promotion from the English Football Championship last year.
