“Kevin (De Bruyne) has a knock and he cannot play. Pablo (Zabaleta) I think cannot. Vincent (Kompany) I think he can but I need to see training and regeneration,” Guardiola said.

“We are going to rotate. Some are going to play. I need to see the players today in training and after we will decide the team.”

The former Bayern Munich manager said the game against United will be special and he expects a tough encounter from his hosts.

“Derbies are always special. We are going to try to play seriously and try to win the game,” Guardiola added.

“I always expect the best from United. They are a strong team with quality. They are six points behind – just two games.”

Commenting on the future of Sergio Aguero with City, Guardiola expressed hope that the Argentine will be at City in years to come.

“I am so happy with Sergio and hopefully he can stay for the long time here. I want him to stay and play with us. He’s a special player.”

And on the arrival of Gabriel Jesus in January, Guardiola said: “We are so happy because (Gabriel Jesus) is 20 years old playing as a 9 for Brazil. He has Fernandinho and Fernando to helo him adjust.”
