Gudmundsson Ruled Out For Clarets

Johann Berg Gudmundsson will miss Burnley’s Europa League clash with Olympiakos on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. The Clarets play host to their Greek opponents in the second leg of their play-off round tie looking to overcome a 3-1 deficit, but will have to do so without Iceland international Gudmundsson, who suffered a hamstring injury during the first-half of last weekend’s Premier League defeat to Fulham.

Summer signing Ben Gibson is also unavailable for Sean Dyche’s side following his sending off in Greece seven days ago, while Steven Defour and Robbie Brady remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
One man who is pushing for a start is forward Matej Vydra, with him yet to feature since joining the Clarets from Derby during the summer.

Burnley will head into the contest having lost three consecutive matches in all competitions, with their European exploits seemingly having a detrimental effect on their domestic form.
Dyche is not having any of that, however, and says he is determined to see the Clarets extend their continental adventure into the group stage.
He said: “Our challenge is to win football matches and we’ve had a mixed start so it’s important on the Europa League side of things – obviously it’s a different challenge – and in the league that we get back to winning ways. That’s the main thing.”
