Arsenal have been linked with a shock swoop for Yaya Toure, but reports claim Greek side Olympiakos are favourites to do a deal. Toure is a free agent after leaving Manchester City at the end of the season and is therefore able to sign for the Gunners despite the transfer window being shut.
After his agent claimed yesterday that he had passed a medical in London, rumours were rife that a switch to the Emirates Stadium could be on the cards.
Dimitry Seluk posted on Twitter: “Yaya Toure has passed a medical in London. Yaya is close to signing a new contract.”
However Yaya Toure, are now hot favourites to do a deal for the Ivory Coast midfielder, who despite being 35, believes he has more time at the highest level in him.
The former Barcelona midfielder spent the 2005/06 season in Athens, making 29 appearances as they achieved a double, winning the league and cup.
Fulham have also been heavily linked but Greece appears to be the most likely destination.
