Reiss Nelson expressed his delight at signing a new three-year deal with Arsenal before joining Hoffenheim on a season-long loan.
The 18-year-old forward was due to fall out of contract at the Emirates Stadium but, following several months of speculation surrounding his future, Nelson has finally agreed terms to keep him with the north Londoners for another three years with an option for an extra 12 months.
However, he will spend the next 12 months plying his trade in the German Bundesliga, having immediately switched to Hoffenheim ahead of the European transfer deadline on Friday evening.
On his new deal, Nelson told the club’s website: “I’m delighted. It’s been a long time coming now so I’m just happy everything’s sorted out and I can sign a contract for a great club.
“It’s my boyhood club. From a young age, from about eight years old, I’ve been supporting the club. The likes of Thierry Henry have encouraged me as well so ever since then I’ve just loved the club and really fallen in love with it.”
On his loan move, he added: “I’m very excited. They’ve got a great manager out there as well so I just can’t wait to get on the pitch and do what I can do, and show everyone what I can do.”11 BUSINESS NUGGETS FROM SUPER EAGLES BRONZE MEDAL TRIUMPH.
