Former Super Falcons coach Paul Hamilton has submitted that the Nigerian women were unlucky to crash out of the group stages of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.
Edwin Okon's team were eliminated from the tournament following their 1-0 defeat suffered in the hands of USA in their last Group D game in the early hours of Wednesday.
"The team should have done better but I feel they were unlucky in the tournament. In their first group game, they drew 3-3 against conceding an own goal and another from a defensive mix-up," Hamilton told completesportsnigeria.com.
"I hope the team must have learned lessons from this tournament. Most of the players are still young and can represent Nigeria in two, three competitions again in the future."
The Falcons were even with the Stripes and Whites until the 45th minute when veteran forward Abby Wambach volleyed home from a corner kick.
Falcons coach Okon would later blame the unfair officiating in the game for his team's early exit from the World Cup.
