Hamilton Vows To Fight At Monza

Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton starts Sunday’s Italian GP in third, behind the two Ferraris, but he insists he is up for the fight. The Brit started Saturday’s qualifying in good form as he posted a quicker time than Scuderia pair Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

However, Ferrari’s superior pace, which has proved problematic for Hamilton recently, eventually came to the fore.
Hamilton ultimately had to settle for third on the grid, with Raikkonen and Vettel starting first and second respectively, but he insists he will come out fighting on Sunday.

“Ferrari did a solid job. We gave it everything we could, it is very close between us but they have had the upper hand this weekend. We will give it everything we can tomorrow,” Hamilton said.

“It was so intense and that’s how F1 should be.”
The former McLaren man heads into Sunday’s showpiece with a 17-point lead over Vettel in the Drivers’ Championship.

Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas was off the pace all weekend but managed to salvage fourth place, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen starts fifth.
