West Ham’s Carlos Sanchez faces a spell on the sidelines following reports he has suffered medial ligament damage in his right knee. The Colombian was among the raft of new arrivals at the London Stadium over the summer and captained the team in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves.
His sluggish performance that day prompted Manuel Pellegrini to leave him out of the Premier League games against Everton and Chelsea before he was given a chance to prove himself in Wednesday’s EFL Cup win over Macclesfield.
However, he lasted just nine minutes of the 8-0 victory before limping off.
Early reports suggest the 32-year-old has suffered a serious knee injury and could even miss the remainder of the campaign.
The club are still to make an official statement on the situation but Pellegrini will be hoping for positive news as he plots to combine both Premier League and EFL Cup fixtures.
An injury to Sanchez may also force the Hammers into the transfer market in January, with Pellegrini expected to be given extra funds to spend should he require them.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
