Wigan centre Chris Hankinson would like 2019 to bring him a regular starting slot under new coach Adrian Lam.
The 25-year-old was signed midway through last season from Championship outfit Swinton Lions and made an immediate impact when he scored a try in just his second game against Catalans Dragons, before an eye injury ruled him out for the remainder of their Super League title-winning campaign.

However, he is now in pre-season training and is hoping to stake a claim under Lam, with competition coming from Oliver Gildart and Dan Sarginson although John Bateman, who can also play in that position, has now departed for Australia.
He said: “My main goal next season is to try and get as many games as possible and improve as a player with the lads around me and the new coach above me. “I’m enjoying it (pre-season). It’s intense and tough, but it’s a nice change and I’m sure it’s going to get harder as everyone is fighting for positions, which is good for healthy competition.”
