Harmony Ikande: I’ll Make My Mark In Israel

Former Nigeria youth international, Harmony Ikande says he hopes to make a big impact at Israeli side, Hapoel Tel-Aviv, having just moved from Ukrainian side Hoverla Uzhhorod this summer.

Despite his huge talent and early potential, the 23-year old has had a rather unsettled career since he left Italian giants, AC Milan, and have already gone on to represent seven other clubs afterwards – albeit three on loan from Milan.

And this time, Ikande is returning to Israel having previously played for Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Ashkelon in the Israeli Ligat ha’Al.

And he says he wants to start making the headlines for the right reasons. “I’m back to Israel, and I want to hit the ground running immediately, and show the world what I can do with the ball at my feet,” he said.

“I know it has hardly been a fantastic career for me, but I’m still a young player and I want to start making myself and my performances count, and I hope to start doing that here in Tel-Aviv.”

Hapoel Tel-Aviv are currently managed by former Manchester City midfielder Eyal Berkovic and finished fourth in the league last season. But Ikande says with good performances from him and
teammates, they can help elevate Hapoel’s status in the league this season, and probably secure Champions League football.

“I just want to give my best and show the world what I can do. It wasn’t a bad season for Hapoel last term, but hopefully it will be better this season. I just hope I can find my rhythm here and
finally make something big,” he concluded.

The Ligat ha’Al begins on the 22nd of August, with Hapoel Tel-Aviv playing hosts to Maccabi Netanya in the league open
