Harrington Ready For Dutch Challenge

Padraig Harrington will take confidence into this week’s KLM Open after finishing second at the D+D Real Czech Masters last time out. The Irishman has not won on the European Tour since his Portugal Masters success in October 2016 but came mighty close last month.

The 47-year-old led by three shots heading into the back nine only for Italy’s Andrea Pavan to come home in 31 and swipe the title from under his nose.

Harrington has enjoyed a short break but will be back in action at Spijk later this week and appears content with how things are shaping up at present.

“I was very happy with my form there,” he told the European Tour’s website. “Two weeks off can be good and bad – it’s nice to have a rest and to get some practice going.

“I was very happy with my game all of the way through which was very solid. It does bring confidence and to do well in tournaments it’s not always about how you are hitting the ball but more how you’re going out and playing in a competitive environment and playing well – it does bring some confidence for the rest of the season.”

The three-time major winner is now down at world number 229 and the Prague result was one positive in what has been an otherwise woeful campaign by the former Ryder Cup ace.
