Joe Hart has backed Burnley to start climbing the Premier League table but knows they must prove their worth on the pitch. It has been a tough beginning to the campaign for the Clarets, with just one point taken from their first four games and it is all a far cry from last season.
Sean Dyche’s men finished seventh to qualify for the Europa League and it is that competition that seems to have taken its toll early in proceedings.
The Lancashire outfit failed to qualify for the group stage but still had to play six games over the summer and, despite words to the contrary from the boss, it clearly had a negative effect on league performances.
However, with a two-week international break and the focus now on league action, Hart is convinced that there is enough quality in the ranks to put things right.
“This team is my team and I believe in them,” he said. “They’ve proved before me that they can more than handle the Premier League and that’s all we’re involved in now, so it’s time to do it again.”
Next up for Burnley is a trip to Molineux to take on a Wolves side that has impressed in the early stages and, asked if he felt Dyche’s charges would fly out of the blocks, Hart concurred, adding:
“I do, loads more energy and quality, but talk is cheap.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
