Tyrrell Hatton is in line to make it three straight wins in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he leads by one shot after round three. The 26-year-old romped to the title in both 2016 and 2017 and clearly has a liking for the event after reaching 14-under par, with just 18 holes to go on the east coast of Scotland.
Playing at St Andrews in the three-course event, the Ryder Cup star carded a second consecutive 66 to add to his opening 70 and sits one stroke clear of Australia’s Marcus Fraser, who signed for a 67 at Kingsbarns.
Hatton’s fellow Englishman and Ryder Cup team-mate Tommy Fleetwood may put in a Sunday challenge as he is tied for third on -11 alongside Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher, while Italy’s Andrea Pavan and Lucas Bjerregaard of Denmark are a further shot back.
Five players are lurking on -9, including three-time major winner Brooks Koepka and Scottish Open champion Brandon Stone.
However, it is Hatton who holds all the aces and the Marlow resident felt he could have been ever further ahead.
“It was nice to shoot a decent score. Front nine, although I was five under, felt quite difficult,” he told the European Tour’s website. “It was pretty cold this morning and I was struggling to warm up.
“I hit a few loose shots, got away with a couple, which was nice, and then holed a couple of putts. Felt like I could have scored better on the back nine but hit a few loose shots again.
“We’re in a good position going into the final day and that’s all we can ask for.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
