Heartland have been granted approval by the League Management Company to register Victor Ezeji for the remaining games of the 2014/2015 season, reports completesportsnigeria.com.
The League body’s decision will see the player reach an iconic 20th uninterrupted season as a professional player in the Nigerian top flight.
The veteran forward started his professional career with Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt before he left to join local rivals, Dolphins.
He also had stints with Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Sunshine Stars where he last played.
Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko, in a release made available to completesportsnigeria.com said the approval was granted on the discretion of the body in line with the relevant provisions of the NPFL framework and rules which empowers the LMC to grant waivers to applications for registration of a player outside the transfer window in special circumstances and for qualified players under Elite players’ scheme or Youth development scheme.
Ezeji has scored for all the clubs he has played for and has the distinct record of having also scored in all 19 seasons he played in the league.
The striker is returning to his state-owned club to possibly call time on a career that has seen him win laurels in the League and Federation Cup with Enyimba, Sharks and Dolphins.
