West Ham are said to be one of the early front runners for the services of Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton if he became available.
Heaton admits his lack of playing time could force him to seek a move away in January and a move to West Ham could be on the cards given he has been linked with a move to the Hammers on numerous occasions in the past.
The Hammers have Lukasz Fabianski and Adrian fighting it out to be number one but if he were to join the club it would be likely that Heaton would get the number one shirt.
Despite the former Cardiff man now being back fit and featuring in the Europa League and EFL Cup, he has been unable to dislodge Joe Hart from his number one position and, with Nick Pope set to return around Christmas, the 32-year-old says he may look to make the boss’ life easier by moving away, accepting that ending his five-year spell at Turf Moor could be the best scenario for him in order to find regular football.
“It doesn’t need a rocket scientist to see that it’s going to be difficult to fit us all in,” he told the Mirror.
“Come the January transfer window, I’ve got to keep my ¬options open. The one thing I’ve been consistent about in my career is moving clubs in order to play games.”
