Lucas Herbert produced a bogey-free round to open up a one-shot lead after day one of the Portugal Masters. World number 158 Herbert started from the 10th tee at Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course and he ripped up the back nine, making four birdies and one eagle to reach the turn in just 30 shots.
The Australian, who is still searching for his maiden European Tour title, produced fewer fireworks on his final nine holes but he did manage to record another two birdies, which helped him sign for a fantastic eight-under-par 63.
