Hislop: Moses Was Chelsea’s Best Player Vs Arsenal

By Johnny Edward:

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop says Victor Moses’ performance for Chelsea in their stalemate against Arsenal was the only ‘bright’ spark for the Blues in the encounter.

Moses made his fourth straight start for Chelsea in the English Premier League and posted a decent shift for Antonio Conte’s side who dropped points at home after their opening day defeat to Burnley.

In a video posted on ESPN on Tuesday, Hislop stated that no Chelsea outfield player stood out for him.

“No Chelsea player took the game by the scuffle, but I think Marcos Alonso was decent, Victor Moses for me was the brightest spark of them all and obviously,Thibaut Courtois was excellent pulling up three great saves in the first half,” Hislop said during his analysis on ESPN.

“Moses for me was the only Chelsea player who left the pitch with a good impression.”

Moses is expected to be rested for Chelsea when they take on League One side, Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup Third Round clash on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.

The 26 year old could return for Chelsea for their trip to Stoke City at the weekend.

Zambians be ready for an unslaught

  • Complete Sports is very popular in Zambia and they are reading this and quaking. I pity them.

If all our key players stay healthy and injury-free,I can’t see a way out for Zambia. Balogun at the back, Mikel in the middle and Moses in the attack are all we need to shut the mouth of these wreckless talkers. I know there are other players, very good players in the team, but these three are very crucial for that match. They are the tripod the team stands on now. Zambian is aware of our attacking threat and their game plan can easily be predicted. They will sit back (unless they want to be arrogant like the Cameroonians, which will be good for us) and leverage on turovers. They have very fast, strong and skilful wingers like Fwayo Tembo to attack us on the counter. But if we can utilize the wings very well, where Moses Simon and Victor Moses have been monstrous of late, we can carve their defence open through their wing backs. The only intelligent defender they have who could prove a bit useful to them against the likes Ighalo and the two Moses is Chisamba Lungu. Even at that, he could be rash at times when under intense pressure. Balogun-Ekong combo is unplayable at the moment. So coming through the middle will be difficult for them. My major concern is Elderson Echiejile. He has slowed down considerably. I just hope Rohr will work round him before the game because I must admit, those Zambian wingers are very strong, fast and skilful. We could try Ola in training. If he did well, why not give him a chance? He looks so good watching him play for Hull City in similar position. But they are beatable. Because Wada, their coach, is not too comfortable with the commitment and discipline of old guards like Rainford Kalaba and Tembo, they rely so much on their U-20 stars now and Patson Daka is one of them. We should watch out for him. He has some very sleek movements. He scored that scrappy goal against Algeria. Others are Enock Mwepu (he scored the winner against Algeria in Ndola, very good in the air), Edward Chilufya, Emmanuel Banda and Fashion Sakala. These are just dynamic upcoming Stars. They are nothing to be compared with the quality we have in the Super Eagles. My Prediction : Nigeria 4 Zambia 0. I see Victor Moses scoring 2 of those.

Waoh! What a great analylist you are. Did u see 4-0 in favour of Nigeria. So do I see the same scoreline but I want you to know that we are not beatable by any team 4 now.

@Tgrace, let me just stop there. Lol. In the defence, I meant to say Stopila Sunzu as their smartest guy there and not Lungu, but I’m sure our strikers will still skin him alive. I will be happy with the player Moses will come up against – Fackson Kapumbu. He’s so clumsy when marking, he offers a lot though going foraward. He gave away the penalty Mwene saved from Mahrez in Algeria. That’s why I said Moses will score 2 goals from that guy’s end. He just cant stop him. I see their big boys coming back (Sinkala, Kalaba, Chisamba and Tembo). But even if they invoked the spirit of Bwalya at Seoul 88 in all the strikers and spirit of Mailtoli at Tunisia ’94 in all the defenders, we will still roast them. The Super Eagles have come a long way in this qualifiers, no copperbullet can stop them now. God is on our side. Nig 4 Zam 0.
