Hock Leaves Featherstone

Featherstone have announced that former England forward Gareth Hock will leave the club as part of a cost-cutting exercise. The 34-year-old, who has played for the likes of Wigan and Salford, and represented England at the 2008 World Cup, penned an extended 12 month contract with the club in January.

However, following Featherstone’s failure to secure a top-four finish in the Championship this season, they need to cut costs and a squad restructure for 2019 is underway.

That has resulted in Hock leaving and he is now on the look out for a new club for next year.

A statement from the club said: “Gareth Hock has left the club after agreeing mutual terms for a release from his contract.

“Featherstone Rovers would like to thank Hock for his service and cooperation as the club proactively looks to restructure for 2019.”
