Home-based Eagles intensified preparations for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier by defeating the Olympic team 2-0 in a test game played at the practice pitch on Wednesday in Abuja, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah forward, Bright Onyedikachi opened scoring for the Eagles, before Giwa FC forward Godwin Obaje doubled the tally for Samson Siasia' side.
The win was Samson Siasia's first win in charge of the Super Eagles since 2011.
The Eagles are preparing for an AFCON double-header against Egypt on March 25 and 29, while the U-23 team are also getting set to battle Rio Olympics hosts, Brazil in a friendly on March 24.
The selected home-based players for the Egypt matches would move to the match venue of Kaduna on March 20, where they would be joined by the 21 foreign-based professionals invited for the qualifiers by interim coach, Samson Siasia.
Meanwhile Enugu Rangers FC defender Orji Kalu Okogbue was left out of the team that won the encounter.
