Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has dismissed talk of Fernando Alonso joining the team for the 2019 season.
McLaren stalwart Alonso has been linked with a move to Red Bull as Daniel Ricciardo will be leaving the Milton Keynes-based outfit to join Renault at the end of the season.
Current Renault driver Carlos Sainz Jr and Toro Rosso star Pierre Gasly have also been linked and it appears one of those is likely to be given the nod, with Horner dismissing talk of a move for Alonso.
“I have got huge respect for Fernando. He’s a great driver, a fantastic driver,” Horner told a podcast on the official F1 website. “But I think it’s very difficult to see… he tends to cause a bit of chaos wherever he’s gone. I’m not sure it would be the healthiest thing for the team for Fernando to join the team.”
Horner admits Red Bull are planning to stick with young drivers when they name Ricciardo’s successor although he insists they are in rush.
“Our preference would be to continue to invest in youth than take a driver who’s obviously close to the end of his career,” Horner added. “We are fortunate that we’ve got several drivers under contract that are great talents. So I think we are going to sit back and just look and evaluate what the situation is.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
