Watford are facing a battle to keep Stefano Okaka beyond the end of August with Real Valladolid said to be preparing an offer. Clubs in Europe have until August 31 to conclude their summer transfer business and they can still take players from Premier League teams despite the English window closing last Thursday.
And Spanish La Liga outfit Valladolid are now poised to make bid for Okaka, who has been linked with a move away from Vicarage Road throughout the summer.
The 29-year-old, who missed Watford’s Premier League opener against Brighton on Saturday because of an injury issue, is a part of boss Javi Gracia’s plans for this season after the Spanish tactician brought him back in from the cold when Marco Silva was sacked in January.
And, with his only forward options being Troy Deeney, Andre Gray and Isaac Success, it is unlikely that he will want to lose Okaka to Valladolid in the knowledge that he cannot bring any new faces in until January.
