Derbyshire’s head of cricket Dave Houghton wants to “build a team around” Alex Hughes after he signed a new deal until 2021. The 27-year-old all-rounder has become a key player for the county having worked his way through the academy ranks and into the first team.
Hughes was an ever-present in all formats of the game in 2018 with 918 runs scored and 32 wickets taken overall.
His County Championship record totalled 737 runs at an average of 28.34 with 10 wickets and he was Derbyshire’s leading wicket-taker in the T20 Blast, claiming a joint club-record 17 wickets.
Speaking about Hughes’ decision to extend his stay with the club, Houghton said: “Alex is a consistent performer with the bat, ball and in the field.
“He’s a player we can build a team around for years to come.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
