How Home Eagles Rated Against Guinea

Nigeria's home-based Super Eagles were on Tuesday eliminated from the 2016 African Nations Championship after losing 1-0 to the Syli Stars of Guinea in their final Group C game.

Completesportsnigeria.com's IZUCHUKWU OKOSI rates the Eagles players…

Ikechukwu Ezenwa

The Sunshine Stars goalkeeper was not troubled for most parts of the game. The first real test for the former youth international came in the 33rd minute when Man-of-the-Match Guinea's Ibrahima Sankhoun attempted to score but had his effort thwarted by the defenders.

The goalkeeper however impressively saved a fierce shot towards the end of the game from a freekick. 6/10

Matthew Etim
The right back made some vital clearances but the Guineans attacked the Eagles backline a couple of times from his position. 5/10.

Zenith Ziva

Chima Akas
The captain of the team started the game well but later went missing. In fact he was caught ball watching when Ibrahima Sankhoun scored. He was overrun by the Guinean forwards who bombed forward to almost make the scoreline 2-0. 6/10.

Jamiu Alimi
The 3SC defender who had a horrible outing against Niger Republic had a far better performance against Guinea as his height helped him win aerial duels. Alimi was lucky not to concede a penalty in the first half when his arm touched the ball. Did make some clearances. 5/10

Austin Obaroakpo
The defender blocked a 16th minute shot from a Guinean striker but he was generally poor in this game.

His long balls into the opposition half were most times poor and was one of the players at fault in the box when Guinea scored. 5/10.

Ifeanyi Matthew
The El-Kanemi midfielder was guilty of some misplaced passes but also was fouled a few times and won freekicks for the team in the many midfield battles against the Guineans. 5/10.

Usman Mohammed
The midfielder broke up plays impressively a number of times and drove forward with the ball but his fitness concerns meant that Sunday Oliseh had no choice but take him off in the first half. 6/10.

Paul Onobi
The midfielder had a fairly good game. He could have done better than his displays on Tuesday but his passes were astray most times though he equally won some midfield battles against the Guineans. 5.5/10.

Osas Okoro
The Enugu Rangers forward was one of the best players in this game and in Nigeria's campaign in Rwanda.

The pacey forward gave the Guineans all sorts of headaches with his pace but his final ball a few times were disappointing.

Okoro should have passed to Tunde Adeniji in the 37th minute who was better positioned but he blazed his shot wide.

He was yellow-carded in the second half for pushing Ibrahima Sankhoun who had fouled him. 7/10.

Prince Aggreh
There was so much expectation from Aggreh heading into the competition but he flattered to deceive.

Admittedly the forward has the skill and footwork to trouble any defence but the end product is often disappointing.

Aggreh offered little threat from the left wing against Guinea. 5/10.

Tunde Adeniji
The striker was closely marked by Mohammed Youla and Aboubakar Leo Camara.

Adeniji also did not get ample supplies from his team-mates in the game and was eventually replaced in the 60th minute. 5/10.

Bature Yaro
The midfielder replaced Usman Mohammed in the 60th minute but his introduction had little impact in the midfield. Played a terrible freekick in the 52nd minute which went wide off target. 4/10.

Chisom Chikatara
The Abia Warriors striker came off the bench in the second half and was presented with a chance in the 62nd minute to score his fifth goal of the Championship.

The in-form striker turned swiftly but his left-footed shot was too tame and was saved by Guinea's goalkeeper, Abdul Aziz Keita. The striker drew a couple of fouls but nothing came out of the chances created. 6/10.

Bright Onyedikachi
There was a lot of industry and belief in the FC IfeanyiUbah forward when he came off the bench to replace Tunde Adeniji.

Onyedikachi hit a shot at the near post and headed wide as the Eagles, 1-0 down, went for an equaliser. 6/10.
