Charles Howell III will take a three-shot lead into the third round of the RSM Classic after carding a second successive score of 64.
The American is playing at his home event at this week’s tournament in Georgia and he has impressed during his opening two rounds, with him yet to drop a shot after picking up six birdies while playing the Seaside course at Sea Island on Friday.
That was enough for the 39-year-old, who is chasing his first victory on the PGA Tour in over a decade, to move onto 14-under-par for the tournament and he admits his form this week feels like it has come from nowhere. “You just never know what’s around the corner in this game,” Howell was quoted as saying by the PGA Tour website.
“I thought I played pretty good in Mexico and just missed the cut there. Came here, I like it here, I didn’t really know what to expect and then this happens. So it’s a crazy game and we’re reminded of it daily. This is another reminder.”
Cameron Champ and Jason Gore are Howell’s nearest rivals heading into the weekend, sitting three shots back, while Nick Watney is also in contention on nine-under.
Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell is leading the European charge, although he has ground to make up over the weekend, as a second round score of 68 leaves him seven shots off the pace on seven-under.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
