Former Nigeria U-23 international Umar Sadiq who was in Nigeria's bronze winning 2016 Olympics football team was on the scoresheet Thursday morning in AS Roma's penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the International Champions Cup at the Comerica Park, Detroit, USA, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and penalties were required.
Sadiq equalised for Roma in the 60th minute after Brazilian defender Marquinhos put PSG ahead in the 36th against his former club
Marquinhos grabbed PSG's goal with a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner with an assist by Jese Rodriguez following a corner.
Sadiq's goal came with a left footed shot from the left side of the box and in between Alphonse Areola's legs at the hour mark.
The Giallorossi however lost 3-5 on penalties with Gerson missing his kick. Bruno Peres, Radja Nainggolan and Daniele De Rossi converted their spot kicks for the Italians, while PSG scored from all their Kicks taken by Lucas Moura, Christopher Nkolou, Lorenzo Callegari, Odsonne Edouard and Marquinhos.
Sadiq had 40% shot accuracy, two shots inside the PSG box, three outside of it and won two aerial duels.
Roma's next game is on July 25, as they face Tottenham Hotspur at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
