Iceland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has played down talks about his team focusing on set pieces to outdo Nigeria in Friday’s Group D Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup clash.
The Super Eagles were found wanting in defending set plays which Croatia benefited from in their 2-0 win.
Iceland are noted for their aerial prowess as they parade the tallest players at this year’s World Cup.
But Hallgrimsson posited that the Super Eagles also pose a threat in set pieces.
“Your players actually are really good in the air,” Hallgrimsson said in Thursday’s press conference.
“I think Ndidi, and Ighalo, is probably one of the best guys in the air in the tournament. But this is just normal for us.
“We prepare set-pieces for every opponent we meet. It’s nothing different from Nigeria or Argentina.”
Hallgrimsson also revealed that their camp is open for players families to visit.
“It’s a nice opportunity that we have,” Hallgrimsson said.
“After lunch and until dinner, wives, fathers and siblings, and more, can come and visit us. It will hopefully have a good effect on the players. It does take its toll to be a part of a group that is together for such a long time and it is nice that they can meet their families.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
