–Eagles star promises to start scoring for West Brom
West Brom’s club-record signing Brown Ideye insists his best is yet to come after admitting he has taken time to adapt to life at the Hawthorns.
Ideye made just his third Premier League start on Saturday and, despite struggling personally, the £10m man helped the Baggies to a 1-0 derby win against Villa.
The Nigeria international believes he is edging closer to his best ahead of Saturday’s trip to struggling QPR.
“I was happy that I was in the first XI,” said Ideye. “I was always hungry to start for West Brom and I always give my best. Sometimes it’s difficult but I have to keep on pushing and working hard for the team.
“I am getting closer to my best. I have had a lot of things to deal with so I just have to be focused and take it one game at a time.
“The gaffer said he wanted me to work hard and at times it has been difficult for me to adapt to the system that the team plays.
“I have to adjust to what I have to do when the team is playing, but right now I think I’m getting there and I am just working hard now.”
Ideye saw Craig Gardner’s first Albion goal earn the Baggies a crucial win against their local rivals and celebrated with four-year-old son Brown Junior.
The youngster joined in with the celebrations in the Baggies’ dressing room after moving from Nigeria earlier this month with the rest of Ideye’s family.
The striker said: “He always wanted to see the dressing rooms so I had to take him in to see it.
“He is happy that we won but he was disappointed that I didn’t score – so I have told him I will score next time!
“It was fantastic for us because we knew how important the game was.
“I knew how important the game was for us as players and also for the fans, so I am very happy that we won. I couldn’t imagine not winning.
“We knew how big it was and we’re all happy to have the result and I am happy for the team and for myself.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
