Ideye Hails Pulis’ Impact, Eyes More Goals

Out of favour Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has heaped plaudits on West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis who has lifted his game.

Ideye became the Midlands’ record signing in the summer of 2014 in a deal worth £10m but had found the going difficult under former manager Alan Irvine.

In a report in the Daily Mail on Friday, Ideye who also spoke to his club’s website in a video message to the fans, thanking them for their support after his Tuesday’s goal against Swansea said:

“I didn’t really have that much (playing) time when Alan was here.

“This time is really different because I have more time and role to play, holding the ball up is what I am good at.

“The way Tony wants me to play suits my game. Right now, I’m in the right place. He likes strikers to work hard even if you don’t score,” the 2013 African Cup of Nations winner with Nigeria stated.

Ideye also warned that his confidence level is good at the moment, hinting that his unquestionable qualities will even shine brighter.

“I guess I’ve not started playing football (for West Brom) the way I know how to play it. I’ve played for several clubs and they can testify how I play.

“Wednesday showed what I’m capable of, but by the grace of God, I can do more.

“Two goals in two games is a dream come true for me. Every striker wants to score goals,” the one-time Ocean Boys striker said while thanking the club supporters.

“The crowd were really supportive but right from the start they’ve been supporting the club and supporting me,” Ideye concluded.

The Baggies host West Ham United on Saturday in the Fifth round of the FA Cup.
