Ahmed Musa bagged his second goal of the season for Leicester City on Saturday in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur after the Nigeria forward had failed to score in his first five Premier League games.
Musa fired in a close-range shot to restore parity for the Foxes from a Jamie Vardy cross in the 48th minute to earn Leicester’s first point of the season away from home. He was replaced in the 68th by Jeffrey Schlupp.
At the Stadium of Light, Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi played for 69 minutes for Arsenal who spanked Sunderland 4-1 in a Premier League early kick-off on Saturday.
The Super Eagles youngster was making his eighth appearance for the Gunners this season who sit second on the EPL log.
Iwobi was replaced by Oliver Giroud who grabbed a brace in five minutes.
At the Hawthorns, Kelechi Iheanacho did not play for Manchester City who returned to winning ways by defeating West Brom 4-0.
Iheanacho who has made seven appearances in the EPL this season was an unused substitute.
At Vicarage Road, Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo’s goal drought extended to five games after failing to score for Watford in their 1-0 win over Hull City on Saturday. Ighalo has scored one goal in nine EPL games.
Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme failed to keep a clean sheet in the English Championship for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday at Ewood Park.
He was replaced at half time after sustaining a hip injury.
It was the seventh straight game the 30-year-old shot-stopper was conceding a goal in action for Wolves who dropped to 17th on the Championship log.
Ikeme, whose only clean sheets in the division have come against Reading, Ipswich and Newcastle United, has conceded 18 goals in 15 games.
Former Nigeria striker Osaze Odemwingie made his debut for Rotherham United in their 2-2 away draw against Ipswich Town in the English Championship on Saturday.
Odemwingie, who joined second-tier Rotherham on a free transfer last week, replaced Jon Taylor with ten minutes left to play.
In Greece, Olympiakos’ Nigerian forward Brown Ideye was the match winner for his side who egded out Atromitos 1-0 on Saturday.
The Nigerian international struck in the 53rd minute of the encounter to end his three-game goal drought to become the top scorer in the Super League with six goals from eight league games.
In Belgium, Henry Onyekuru scored his fifth league goal for KAS Eupen as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Lokeren.
In the Slovakian top division, Reuben Gabriel returned from a one-match suspension to score his first goal of the season for Trencin who defeated Zlate Moravce 2-0 on Saturday.
The game was his sixth start of the campaign.
In Holland, Kelechi Nwakali made his full debut in MVV Maastricht’s 2-1 loss to Volendam in a second division game at the De Geusselt.
Nwakali had previously made four substitute appearances for the Dutch side before his first start. He was replaced by Dyon Gijzen in the 77th minute.
MVV Maastricht are placed third in Eerste Divisie league with 23 points and will welcome Telstar on Thursday in another league fixture.
