Ighalo: Eagles Must Win Away Games

-Silent On Likely Watford Exit

By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo who scored his first international goal from the spot in the 2-0 home win over Chad believes the team must improve on their away performances to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Eagles have often been undone by their poor away form in qualifying campaigns, winning just once in their last six, and Ighalo insists they must not toy with their next game in Tanzania in September.

“We need five more wins in the AFCON qualifiers and that makes our next game a must win,” the Watford forward told completesportsnigeria.com on Sunday.

“We don’t want to make the same mistakes anymore by dropping points on in away games.”

Ighalo however refused to comment on his impending exit from Premier League newcomers Watford.

The 26-year-old who has been linked with summer move to Swansea, Norwich and West Brom revealed that he is yet to agree a new deal with the Hornets.

Ighalo scored 20 goals for the Hornets in the Championship last season and has two years left on his current deal.
He informed completesportsnigeria.com that his future will be sorted out in the coming days when he returns to Vicarage Road.

“There are lots of reports linking me away from the team but I’m still a player of Watford and won’t comment about it now,” he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
